GOLDEN CHAIN TREE

                                                                                                  Laburnum 

All parts of the laburnum are toxic, especially the seed & bark.

Laburnum is cholagogue, purgative, diuretic, emetic, laxative, poison.

The leaves have a similar effect to tobacco & have been used in treating nicotinism. 

The seed has been used in the treatment of whooping cough & asthma.
Can be used to bring on vomiting, constipation, cramps, depression, vertigo, water retention.
Too dangerous for use, even as a topical.

PRECAUTIONS:

All parts, including the seeds are extremely poisonous. 

Eating as few as 20 seeds can kill an adult. 

Symptoms of poisoning include abundant salivation, vomiting, convulsions, hypertension, tachycardia, arrhythmia & respiratory signs.
Signs of laburnum poisoning also include nausea, dizziness, mouth, throat & stomach pain, sweating, headache, vomiting with blood, spasms, paralysis, decreased urine excretion, decreased breathing & death.
Higher doses can produce intense sleepiness, convulsive possibly tetanic movements, coma, slight frothing at the mouth & unequally dilated pupils.
