HAYFLOWERS

The blossoms of wild hay of the mountains are an indispensable herbal aid for healing & curative detoxifying baths, ointments & poultices.
The hayflowers can be used for foot soaks, hand soaks, or in small amounts in a full bath. A hayflower bath & a vigorous coarse salt rubdown prior to the bath will overcome the fatigue of overwork or undo party excesses, reduce inflammation.
If you live in the country, make up your own extract.
The mixture of mountain hayflowers diluted in water has a profound effect on the skin.

Add 2 handfuls of dried hayflowers to 2 litres of water, bring to the boil then simmer for 10 minutes.
Strain & use to bathe affected areas.

A common polyp found in the nasal or sinus cavity can cause extreme discomfort which can be relieved by drinking a strong herbal infusion made from hayflowers.
You can also inhale the steam.
This should be done daily on a regular basis.
You can rinse the nasal region on a regular basis with a cup of lukewarm water mixed with half a teaspoon of Epsom salts.
This mixture will help prevent the formation of nasal polyps.

Back pain relief:

Put some hayflowers or dried wildflowers in a small linen bag.
Then heat it with steam from boiling water, wrap it in a hand towel if necessary & lay it across the painful part of your back – ideally while lying on your side.
Be extra careful to avoid direct skin contact with the hot steam.

Herbal sitz baths during the last weeks of pregnancy:

This helps loosen the muscles in your perineum & relaxes the area both for the massage afterwards & for birth in general.
Pour very hot water on the hayflowers & put the steaming tea in a pot.
Put the pot into the toilet or bidet & sit over the steam.
It can also help in case of irregular or too weak contractions at the beginning of labor.
Hay-asthma patients should, of course, avoid this method.
Use it once a week, beginning with the 38th week of pregnancy.
From your due date on, use it as often as you wish, up to several times daily. Moms with hemorrhoids have to be careful: the affected area can hurt afterwards.

Acute Joint Inflammation:

In the acute, inflamed stage, slowly start with movement exercises & hot, moist fenugreek packs on the painful areas.
Take 1 tbsp fenugreek seeds internally 3 times daily.

For internal 10-day cleansing & to reduce inflammation, drink willow bark tea.
Add 1 tsp willow bark to 1 cup boiling water, steep for 10 minutes, strain & drink unsweetened twice daily.

Take a hayflower bath.

Combine wild yam with celery seeds or willow leaves & make an infusion, strain & add to bath water.

Some commonly used herbs are hayflower, oatstraw & fenugreek, made as teas into which the compress cloths are dipped.

The cold single compress has primarily a vasoconstrictive effect, both locally & distally.

Due to this effect, it may be used to prevent or relieve congestion, reduce blood flow to an area, prevent edema following injury, inhibit inflammation & relieve pain due to congestion.

It may also be used to reduce body temperature when applied over a large area of the body.

These compresses are renewed frequently, every 1-5 minutes in order to maintain the primary cold effect.

  1. I did the footbath for 1/2 hour. It stimulated blood flow and nerve sensation. Will try daily. Good results.
